New director to join CentrePort Board in 2025
18 December 2024
Chairman Lachie Johnstone says the New Year will start on a positive note with the addition of Vanessa James to the Board of CentrePort Ltd.
Ms James joins CentrePort after living abroad in the US and Canada for many years, working for Methanex, the world’s largest producer and supplier of Methanol.
“Vanessa’s a strategic, global business executive, who has over 25 years of leadership experience, that can extend the Board’s governance bench strength,” Mr Johnstone says.
“At Methanex, she rose to become Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Sustainability. She was a director of Methanex NZ and Board Member of the Methanol Institute as well as holding other governance roles over the past decade.”
Mr Johnstone said her experience and skillset means she comes with complementary knowledge and understanding of the infrastructure and logistics industry. She also understands the critical elements of health and safety and sustainability, which are particularly high on CentrePort’s management and risk radar.
Mr Johnstone says he’s looking forward to Ms James joining her new colleagues at the Board.
“With a new energy and enthusiasm, Vanessa and our other recent Board appointee, Andrew Barlass, will be able to offer fresh perspectives on key issues and opportunities. It will make for a productive year,” Mr Johnstone says.
Ms James is returning to New Zealand at the start of 2025 after relocating to Vancouver in 2018.
She joins the Board from 1 February 2025.
